ART & MUSIC FUSED TOGETHER! UNIT: “HOW WE EXPRESS OURSELVES” Inspired by Romero Britto
ART & MUSIC LESSON
UNIT: “HOW WE EXPRESS OURSELVES”
ROMERO BRITTO STUDY
These are INSTRUCTIONS FOR ALL GRADES during distance learning - grown ups welcome to join in too!!!
Before you begin you will need to gather:
paper (any kind, scrap paper is fine - nothing fancy!)
and your favorite things to draw or color with: colored pencils, crayons, pens, markers, pastels, even paint - try a mix!
Once your materials are gathered, take a moment to think of your favorite place to go that's outside and/or in nature.
Next, watch the quick 3-minute video about Romero Britto (link is below these instructions).
Grades 3-6 only: Please read Britto's biography on the below link (just a short paragraph!) and scroll through and check out more of his awesome works of art at the top of the page: https://www.artsy.net/artist/romero-britto
With your mind full of Britto's color and energetic style, please draw a scene of your favorite outdoor spot, while listening to a collection of traditional and contemporary Brazilian music (LINK BELOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS)!
Let your own colors and style guide you! Be a Risk-Taker!
Please listen to at least 30 minutes of music as you draw. But also feel free to listen longer and to draw more than one picture if you're feeling inspired!
Artwork should be reflective of elements of Britto’s work that inspire you - don’t attempt to trace or copy, just draw in your own style and you might incorporate the colors that he uses with bright crayons, markers or paint. Do not feel worried about having your work be the same as his, just enjoy drawing!
Share your artwork!!
Grown-ups: if you're able to snap a pic and add it to the Music Classroom Drive Folder
